2012 Submissions are Now Closed

Thank you, thank you, to all the filmmakers who submitted. This year, we’ve received the largest number of submissions yet, from filmmakers all over the world. The review process has begun. Acceptance announcements will be made about March 15th, 2012. Good luck to you all!

2012 Call for Entries

The acclaimed West Chester International Short Film Festival will celebrate its eigth year from April 27 – 29, 2012 with an exciting mix of independent short film from both professional and highly regarded amateur filmmakers from all over the United States and Canada, Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East, Australia and of course, from right here in Pennsylvania. The festival will once again span film genres to include animation, comedy, documentary, drama, and experimental/art selections to entertain, provoke and stimulate regional audiences.

Located in the historic town of West Chester in the heart of Chester County, Pennsylvania, the film festival is forty minutes from Philadelphia and thirty minutes from Wilmington, Delaware. Submissions will be juried by a panel of industry professionals and selected based on content, innovation and technical execution. The three day event will include film screenings throughout the downtown area, special film blocks for children and teens, interactive workshops, and social events. The West Chester Film Festival is a premier cultural arts event in the Philadelphia region. Come join us and help us celebrate our 8th year! Welcome to West Chester: Small Town, Big Film!!

The 7th Annual West Chester Film Festival finished off last night with the Closing Night Awards party at The Note. Congratulations to all the award winners!

Last Day of Film Blocks, Closing Night Awards Party

Two more film blocks will be screening today. At the Chester County Courthouse starting at 12:00 and 2:15 PM and at Knights of Columbus at 12:15 and 2:30 PM.

See the films in each block. Tickets are cash only at the door, or available online.

Another FREE Workshop you don’t want to miss – learn the craft of the short film screenplay – 11:00 AM at Knights of Columbus. Read about the workshop.

Then please join us at the Closing Night Awards Party at The Note from 6:00 – 10:00 PM. Open to everyone, it’s a fun wrap-up to the Film Festival weekend. “The Chester” Award is a one of a kind glass sculpture designed by Brett Walker and crafted by Ryan Blyth. Following the Awards Presentation, you’ll get to see some of the award winning films one last time!

Free Workshops, Meet the Filmmakers

The 7th West Chester Film Festival is under way! On Day Two, there is a Children’s Block of films starting at 10:30 AM at the Knights of Columbus, followed by a Young Filmmaker Block of shorts starting at 12:30 PM. The Knights of Columbus also has film blocks at 3:00, 7:15 and 9:30 PM. The Chester County Court House is screening film blocks at 3:15, 7:00 and 9:15 PM.

Interested in animation? Want to hear what it’s like making films in PA? Take advantage of two Workshops at the Knights of Columbus at 11:30 AM and at 1:30 PM. Read about the workshops here. Then, relax at Pietro’s Prime for a Meet & Greet with the Filmmakers at 5:30-6:30 PM. The filmmakers of a number of the films you’ll see this weekend are attending. Did we mention these events are FREE?!
