2011 Call for Entries

The acclaimed West Chester International Short Film Festival will celebrate its seventh year from April 29 – May 1, 2011 with an exciting mix of independent short film from both professional and highly regarded amateur filmmakers from all over the United States and Canada, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Australia and of course, from right here in Pennsylvania. The festival will once again span film genres to include animation, comedy, documentary, drama, and experimental/art selections to entertain, provoke and stimulate regional audiences.

Located in the historic town of West Chester in the heart of Chester County, Pennsylvania, the film festival is forty minutes from Philadelphia and thirty minutes from Wilmington, Delaware. This year the Festival will present close to one hundred independent short films, thirty minutes or less in length. Submissions will be juried by a panel of industry professionals and selected based on content, innovation and technical execution. The three day event will include film screenings throughout the downtown area, special film blocks for children and teens, interactive workshops, and social events. The West Chester Film Festival is a premier cultural arts event in the Philadelphia region. Come join us and help us celebrate our 7th year! Welcome to West Chester: Small Town, Big Film!

The West Chester Film Festival finished off last night with the Closing Night Awards party at The Note. Congratulations to all the award winners!

This was our best festival yet, and on behalf of the festival board, THANK YOU to all the filmmakers, sponsors and volunteers – this event would not be possible without you.

Last Day of Festival – Closing Night Awards Party

Two more film blocks will be screening today. At Knights of Columbus starting at 12:15 and 2:30 PM, and at the Chester County Historical Society at 12:30 and 2:45 PM.

See the films in each block. Tickets are cash only at the door, or available online.

Then please join us at the Closing Night Awards Party at The Note from 6:00 – 10:00 PM. A fun wrap-up to the Film Festival weekend. “The Chester” Award is a one of a kind glass sculpture designed by Brett Walker and crafted by Ryan Blyth. Following the Awards Presentation, you’ll get to see some of the award winning films one last time!

The West Chester Film Festival is under way! On Day Two, there is a Youth Block of films – films created by students – starting at 11:30 AM at the Chester County Historical Society. The Chester County Historical Society also has film blocks at 1:00, 3:30, 7:15 and 9:30 PM. The Knights of Columbus is screening film blocks at 7:00 and 9:15 PM.

Take advantage of two Workshops at the Knights of Columbus at 1:00 PM and at 3:30 PM. Read about the workshops here. Then, relax at Pietro’s Prime for a Meet & Greet with the Filmmakers at 4:30-5:30 PM. The filmmakers of a number of the films you’ll see this weekend are attending. See you there!
